From the moment he entered the track in the morning, it was clear Alex Marquez and his Repsol Honda Team had made a step forward as the rookie lapped in the 1’32s throughout the day.

Sixth row for Álex Márquez

Álex Márquez was unable to progress to Q2 and qualified in 17th position for tomorrow’s race at Misano, setting a best time of 1:32.198.

His fastest time today in the qualifying run was over a second quicker than his best Q1 lap last week: 1:33.333.

Tomorrow’s race is expected to take place in dry conditions, similar to those of last weekend.

“Again, our race pace is looking quite good and in both practice sessions we did a good job. Our rhythm is good but we can’t make a big step like the others with the soft tyre. Since Jerez we have improved this and even since last weekend we have found some time but everyone else has also made a step. I feel good on the bike but when we put new tyre in, the situation changes. It will be a hard fight tomorrow starting from where we are but if we can make some moves at the start we can make some progress.”
