Sergio García took the chequered flag at Sachsenring in eleventh place, as part of the front group and just one second behind the race winner, after fighting back from as low as 22nd place on the seventh lap.
Alonso López, who started eleventh on the grid, got off the line well, slotting into eighth in the opening sector. However, he lost grip a few turns later and crashed out of the race. After the crash, the Repsol rider was taken to the circuit medical centre, where he was treated for a dislocated right shoulder.
The World Championship now takes a four-week break, returning on August 2nd-4th for the Czech Republic Grand Prix.

Moto3 2019 German GP – Rider statements
Sergio García
I’m very happy with this race, because it was very tough. The crash by my teammate slowed us down a lot; I had to go off-track to avoid him and spent a lap cleaning off my tyres. Little by little I fought back, until I reached the front group alongside some other riders.
I managed to overtake several rivals to finish eleventh, so I’m very happy; we have added some more points to our tally. Now we have to continue working, although first of all we are going to rest for a few days.

It was a shame about the crash in today’s race, because Alonso and his crew had worked very hard throughout the weekend. He was very focused all the time and looked for a good pace to make sure he was in the front group.
He has been diagnosed with a dislocated right shoulder, but fortunately there is no fracture, so he will have time to recover and return at full strength in August. We are very satisfied with the race that Sergio had, as he managed to gain places and finish in the points again -at a circuit where he had not ridden previously.
