As mountain lovers, the Repsol Honda pilots are great fans of skiing. During the winter months, they like to visit their favourite ski resort and go cross-country skiing, ski mountaineering, and snow shoeing. These sports are an alternative to going running in the cold winter months and help them keep in shape.

Although FIM doesn’t allow riders to race on the track during the break, this doesn’t stop them doing other two-wheeled sports. Marc is passionate about dirt tracking and not a year goes by without him racing on the Rufea rack, near to his home town.

This is a fundamental part of his training, which helps him take left-hand curves so well on the track. The closest alternative to their much-loved road motorbikes is motocross, although Dani always finds time to mimic Respol Honda team member Toni Bou aboard his Honda Montesa.

Pedalling is somewhat uncomfortable in the winter months due to the cold, but our riders don’t get off their bikes, not even between seasons. Dani, who is a cycling fanatic, wraps up warm against the cold to go out and do one of his favourite sports. As for Marc, he continues to go cycling near Cervera with his brother. At the end of the day, the best motivation is being passionate about what you do, or having an inseparable companion.

Resting is a priority in the winter, but after having a non-stop exercise routine throughout the whole year, it’s important not to break it too suddenly. Marc and Dani continue exercising during this time to build muscle, improve their balance, and keep their flexibility. It’s important to keep in good physical shape to get the coming season off to a racing start.

A bit of sofing?

Let’s face it, there are few things that you fancy doing more on a cold winter morning than staying wrapped up warm at home. Although the Repsol Honda riders never completely stop their training, this is the perfect time to take it a bit slower and do all those things there’s no time for during the season, like playing the MotoGP video game with your brother or going to see this year’s Christmas blockbuster.

And the Trial riders?

What do Toni Bou and Takahisa Fujinami get up to during these months? Well, no less than… Trial! The season starts on 3rd December. Don’t miss it!
