The Moto3 Japanese GP race was reduced by seven laps due to a delay of more than an hour, after an oil spill from an engine issue in the warmup.

Canet maintains third position in the overall standings, behind Joan Mir and Romano Fenati.

Arón Canet

“First of all, I think we have to improve our setup in wet conditions, because we found it very hard from the beginning. The race was quite tough, because it rained more than it had before during the weekend. The track was getting wetter and every lap I had to adapt to the race pace with more water on the asphalt. It was one of the most difficult races I have ever ridden in wet conditions. We finally reached fifth position, which is positive in the battle for the runner-up spot. We have three races left and we can fight for it, the result has also been positive for securing third position in the overall standings, and in Australia we will try to cut more points to the rider in second place.”

Enea Bastianini

“It has been a difficult race, but in the beginning I felt quite good. As the laps went by it rained more intensely and I started to have problems with the rear. On the last five laps I lost confidence with the bike. It’s a shame because we had made progress over the weekend, but this heavy rain compromised everything.”
