Toni Bou has now 55 points

Toni Bou achieved his second victory of the season in the third round of the X-Trial World Championship, which was held today in Vienna. A result that, together with the second place he achieved in the first round, places him in the lead of the Championship with an advantage of 8 points just before the last round that will be held next Friday in Marseille. His team mate Takahisa Fujinami finished fifth, finishing again just away of the finale, which he missed by just one point.

Leader since the Qualifying, Toni Bou also took the initiative in the finale, securing the win ahead of Albert Cabestany and Adam Raga. In the overall standings, the Repsol Honda Team rider has now 55 points, against 47 of the second place, with just one round left to close a Championship in which he could take his tenth Indoor title, the 19th World Championship of his career.

The meeting will be next Friday at the French city of Marseille.

Toni Bou 1st – 9 points

“I’m very happy, today it was fantastic. I suffered in the Qualifying, but it was worth it. The finale went very well and I’m happy with this round. Albert Cabestany was very strong, he was going to win and I had to ride better than ever. Today, the conditions for the last race of the X-Trial Championship improved. Having to gamble in Marseille was very tough, although I know it will not be easy and there will be nerves. There’s nothing decided yet.”

Takahisa Fujinami 5th – 8 points

“Again by one point! Once again I missed by very little and it’s a pity I couldn’t get in the finale, but I’m happy with my riding. I felt comfortable and not nervous at all. I see myself in the first group, closer to those fighting for the podium. But that only means we need to keep working and fighting to be in the finale in the last race. I’ll fight for it.”
