Repsol Honda Team Manager Alberto Puig was pleased with his team’s performance at the French Grand Prix, where Marc Márquez won his third race in a row, and Dani Pedrosa finished fifth. The reigning MotoGP World Champion left Le Mans with a further advantage in the overall standings, whilst his teammate overcame problems he had been suffering from the incident at Jerez to fight back from tenth to fifth.

WHAT WAS THE STRATEGY FOR THE LE MANS RACE?
Marc tried to make a great start, but it’s always difficult at the first corner. He managed to do it, but then he lost some positions when another rider crashed in front of him. But then he recovered and step by step he understood that he was more comfortable in the lead than waiting behind other riders. Once he was in front he opened a gap. His rear tyre worked well. He was sure in the warm-up that this was the tyre for the race and he confirmed that later.

Dani got better as the weekend went on. During the warm-up we already saw that he was better and during the race he was faster than he was on Saturday.

THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE POINTS OF THE RACE?
The positive point is that Marc won and that his closest championship rivals didn’t score points.

THE VIEW FROM PIT WALL DURING RACE?
It wasn’t easy on the pit wall – it wasn’t not relaxed. Danilo Petrucci was very fast and aggressive, so we must to congratulate him for his ride. I think that the race was not a breeze for Marc, but he built a margin that he could control.

THE INSIDE STORY APART FROM THE OFFICIAL COMMENTS?
More than 105,000 people enjoyed the race at Le Mans, at the end of another great MotoGP weekend. And this year we had very good weather all weekend, which is not always a given at Le Mans!
