The Sodicars Racing BV6 prototype with adapted hand controls on the steering wheel that will be driven by the rider from Lérida has passed pre-boarding inspections in the French port of Le Havre.

Dakar 2018 is already on the move. Today, the vehicles have undergone technical inspections in the French port of Le Havre before setting of on their journey to Peru, where the race will kick off on 6th January. The Repsol Rally Team’s BV6 prototype that will be driven by Isidre Esteve has passed all these checks and has begun its three-week journey to Peru.

The organisers of Dakar have chartered a cargo ship to transport the more than 600 vehicles that are involved in the race, including race cars and assistance, organisation, and press vehicles. The journey will last three weeks, crossing the Atlantic and the Panama Canal before arriving at their final destination: Lima. They will arrive at the Port of Callao on 2nd January, where the teams will be waiting to collect their vehicles and carry out the final preparations before the race.

The Repsol Rally Team’s spectacular BV6 prototype will make its début in the Dakar this year, driven by Isidre Esteve. This 4X4 was developed by Sodicars Racing with a 3-litre, 335-hp BMW biturbo diesel engine, tubular chassis, sequential gearbox, and adapted hand controls on the steering wheel.
