The Dutch TT will be the eighth round of the season and the last before the summer break.

Márquez will arrive at Assen after a difficult weekend at Sachsenring. The Repsol Honda Team rider has used the past few days to recover from the crashes he suffered during the German Grand Prix.

Márquez has been on the podium ten times at the Dutch track, achieving 5 victories: 1 in 125cc, 2 in Moto2 and 2 in MotoGP. He also has 4 second places there in MotoGP and 1 third place in the premier class.

Joan Mir will continue to recover at home, with the aim of returning to action at the British Grand Prix after a difficult start to the year. Iker Lecuona will be the rider taking his place, riding the Honda RC213V for the first time since the Spanish Grand Prix, where he stood in for Márquez. The Superbike rider has been on the WSBK podium in Assen, finishing third there this season for his maiden rostrum.

Statements

Marc Márquez

“I arrive in Assen looking to put the hard weekend in Germany behind me. We have one more race before the summer break and the objective is to gather a lot of good data for the engineers so they can work over these next weeks. This is the focus for the weekend, we need to remain calm and approach the weekend with a clear plan.”

Iker Lecuona

“First of all I want to wish Joan all the best in his recovery. I am excited to join the team again, it’s a true honour. Assen is a circuit I like, I got my first WorldSBK podium there so hopefully we can have another good weekend like in Jerez. I am still recovering a bit after the crash in Misano, so this will be a good physical test too. Let’s ride!”
