At one of the fastest circuits on the MotoGP calendar, the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, Marc Márquez took second place this past weekend and extended his lead in the series. During the Grand Prix, the Repsol Honda rider achieved a top speed of 351.5 km/h, close to the 400 km/h that he would reach with Repsol Red Bull Air Race pilot Juan Velarde up in the sky in a special meeting between the two.

Márquez experienced at the end of 2018 season loops, turns and other aerobatic maneouvers, even accepting Velarde’s challenge to take control of the aircraft for a few moments. The next round of the Red Bull Air Race will be on June 15th and 16th in Kazan, the same weekend as Márquez will be in action at the Catalan Grand Prix.
