Los aficionados a las carreras de Campeonato del Mundo de 500 cc \u2013lo que hoy conoces como MotoGP-, y en particular los incondicionales del <strong>Equipo Repsol Honda<\/strong>, ten\u00edan otros medios para no perderse los duelos entre el campe\u00f3n en t\u00edtulo <strong>Mick Doohan<\/strong> y su compa\u00f1ero de escuadra, el aspirante espa\u00f1ol <strong>\u00c1lex Crivill\u00e9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bxrepsol.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/static\/2022\/08\/29084819\/doohan-y-criville-pelean-en-una-curva-de-un-circuito-del-mundial-de-motos-2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Televisi\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola<\/strong> <strong>retransmit\u00eda en abierto todas las carreras de la temporada<\/strong>, incluidos los entrenamientos, aunque los horarios pod\u00edan variar y se llegaba incluso a ver alguna carrera en diferido por exigencias de la programaci\u00f3n. <strong>Radio Nacional de Espa\u00f1a tambi\u00e9n emit\u00eda las carreras<\/strong> pero, si bien en las ondas le ha ido muy bien a deportes como el f\u00fatbol, las carreras de motociclismo en la radio no levantaban la misma expectaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Los peri\u00f3dicos costaban 125 pesetas -0\u201975 \u20ac-<\/strong> y daban informaci\u00f3n sobre los entrenamientos del Gran Premio durante el fin de semana. <strong>El lunes, los diarios generalistas publicaban una cr\u00f3nica de un par de p\u00e1ginas<\/strong> y los deportivos ampliaban la informaci\u00f3n hasta cuatro o cinco. Sin embargo, el martes por la ma\u00f1ana era el momento m\u00e1s esperado y <strong>no resultaba extra\u00f1o ver la Honda NSR de 75 o 125 cc de un aficionado aparcada en el kiosco<\/strong>, precisamente <strong>cuando aparec\u00eda un nuevo n\u00famero de las revistas Motociclismo y Solo Moto<\/strong> con complet\u00edsimos reportajes de cada Gran Premio, con cr\u00f3nicas, fotos, entrevistas, art\u00edculos sobre t\u00e9cnica, un nivel de informaci\u00f3n que les convert\u00edan en referentes de la competici\u00f3n. <strong>Cada ejemplar costaba 375 pesetas -1\u201995 \u20ac-<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BgMHbO2Dg8R\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; La formaci\u00f3n de f\u00e1brica del constructor japon\u00e9s y la petrolera espa\u00f1ola hab\u00edan decidido aunar esfuerzos un a\u00f1o antes, en 1995, y contaba con <strong>tres pilotos al manillar de la legendaria Honda NSR 500<\/strong>, el australiano <strong>Mick Doohan<\/strong>, el espa\u00f1ol <strong>\u00c1lex Crivill\u00e9<\/strong> y el japon\u00e9s <strong>Shinichi Ito<\/strong>. En 1996 entr\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n el japon\u00e9s <strong>Tadayuki Okada.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Doohan era en aquel momento el l\u00edder indiscutible del equipo<\/strong>. Hab\u00eda ganado su primer t\u00edtulo de 500 cc en 1994 y en 1995 estren\u00f3 el n\u00famero 1 en el frontal y los laterales de su Honda NSR500, ya completamente decorada con los colores de Repsol. <strong>Era el \u00faltimo de la m\u00edtica generaci\u00f3n de pilotos de 500 cc americanos y australianos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bxrepsol.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/static\/2022\/08\/29084820\/mick-doohan-hace-el-saludo-en-v-a-sus-fans-en-las-gradas-2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ese mismo a\u00f1o, <strong>Doohan ganar\u00eda su segundo campeonato consecutivo con siete victorias<\/strong> y una abrumadora autoridad en la pista. Crivill\u00e9, por su parte, formaba parte de una nueva generaci\u00f3n de pilotos europeos dispuestos a terminar con el dominio anglosaj\u00f3n en 500 cc. Hab\u00eda finalizado cuarto en la general subiendo al podio con cierta frecuencia y sumando una victoria en la carrera que cerraba la temporada en Catalu\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Todo el mundo esperaba una nueva y excitante temporada en 1996<\/strong>. Doohan estaba tan fuerte como siempre y Crivill\u00e9 hab\u00eda aprendido especialmente del mayor referente del campeonato, su propio compa\u00f1ero de equipo. En el inicio de temporada, Doohan venci\u00f3 en la segunda carrera del calendario en Indonesia y Crivill\u00e9 subi\u00f3 al podio en Jap\u00f3n, pero <strong>en la cuarta salida del a\u00f1o<\/strong>, en Jerez, <strong>se desat\u00f3 el enfrentamiento en la pista entre Doohan y Crivill\u00e9 que marcar\u00eda gran parte de lo que habr\u00eda de venir en una temporada inolvidable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bxrepsol.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/static\/2022\/08\/29084821\/doohan-en-el-podio-del-podio-del-gran-premio-de-espanya-1996-2.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Crivill\u00e9 lider\u00f3 el GP de Espa\u00f1a hasta la \u00faltima vuelta<\/strong>. Entonces se produjo una invasi\u00f3n de pista por una m\u00ednima parte del p\u00fablico que caus\u00f3 una gran confusi\u00f3n. Doohan, que rodaba a rueda de Crivill\u00e9, recuper\u00f3 unos metros decisivos y le rebas\u00f3 en el viraje de entrada en meta. <strong>El espa\u00f1ol, viendo que le se escapaba la victoria como arena entre los dedos, aceler\u00f3 bruscamente y la salvaje Honda NSR500 le lanz\u00f3 a continuaci\u00f3n por encima del manillar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si Michael Doohan era de nuevo l\u00edder del campeonato mediada la temporada, Crivill\u00e9 jam\u00e1s pens\u00f3 en rendirse. En el GP de Austria, la d\u00e9cima cita del calendario, <strong>Crivill\u00e9 se tom\u00f3 la revancha en Spielberg y derrot\u00f3 a Doohan con un sensacional adelantamiento de \u00faltima vuelta<\/strong>. El joven aprendiz hab\u00eda vencido al maestro y aquel momento demostr\u00f3 al piloto espa\u00f1ol que su rival no era invencible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bxrepsol.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/static\/2022\/08\/29084822\/alex-criville-celebra-su-victoria-en-el-GP-de-espana-de-1996-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dos semanas despu\u00e9s, en Rep\u00fablica Checa, <strong>los dos pilotos del Equipo Repsol Honda volvieron a verse las caras en la pista<\/strong>. Doohan parec\u00eda tener la victoria en el bolsillo, pero Crivill\u00e9 rod\u00f3 tan r\u00e1pido en la \u00faltima vuelta que recuper\u00f3 unos metros vitales para salir de la \u00faltima curva en la estela de su rival. <strong>Crivill\u00e9 sali\u00f3 del rebufo de Doohan para lograr una segunda victoria consecutiva<\/strong> sobre su rival australiano por apenas dos mil\u00e9simas de segundo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aquella \u00e9pica temporada finaliz\u00f3 con el tercer t\u00edtulo mundial para Doohan y con Crivill\u00e9 como subcampe\u00f3n<\/strong> del mundo de 500 cc, no sin antes caer juntos en la \u00faltima vuelta de la carrera que cerraba la temporada, ir\u00f3nicamente en Australia. Ning\u00fan piloto espa\u00f1ol hab\u00eda llegado tan lejos en 500 cc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>La rivalidad entre Doohan y Crivill\u00e9 dentro del Equipo Repsol Honda continu\u00f3 en las temporadas siguientes<\/strong>. El australiano gan\u00f3 el campeonato de nuevo en 1997 y 1998, sumando nada menos que cinco t\u00edtulos consecutivos que le han situado como uno de los pilotos m\u00e1s grandes de este deporte. <strong>Crivill\u00e9 estuvo cada vez m\u00e1s cerca y en 1999 comenz\u00f3 la temporada mejor preparado que nunca<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bxrepsol.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/static\/2022\/08\/29084823\/alex-criville-en-el-gp-de-espana-de-la-temporada-de-1999-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>La victoria de \u00c1lex Crivill\u00e9 en el GP de Espa\u00f1a de 1999 coincidi\u00f3 con la grave ca\u00edda en entrenamientos de Mick Doohan<\/strong>.
