{"id":97557,"date":"2019-08-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-08-04T02:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pre.boxrepsol.com\/uncategorized\/marquez-claims-50th-victory-in-motogp\/"},"modified":"2023-02-27T07:20:11","modified_gmt":"2023-02-27T09:20:11","slug":"marquez-claims-50th-victory-in-motogp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.boxrepsol.com\/en\/motogp-en\/marquez-claims-50th-victory-in-motogp\/","title":{"rendered":"M\u00e1rquez claims 50th victory in MotoGP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a race delayed by rain and reduced to 20 laps<strong>, Marc M\u00e1rquez gave his rivals no chance and scored his sixth victory of 2019<\/strong>, his 50th in MotoGP and 76th in all categories -matching Mike Hailwood\u2019s tally.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 5 riders who have managed to win races so far in 2019, the Repsol rider is still the only one with more than a single victory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In the 10 races held to date, M\u00e1rquez has been on the podium 9 times<\/strong>, always in either first or second place.<\/p>\n<p>With this result, M\u00e1rquez <strong>extends his lead in the overall standings to 63 points from nearest rival<\/strong> Andrea Dovizioso. I knew I needed to keep my rhythm as the Yamaha riders were starting from behind and they were strong in Warm Up. <\/p>\n<p>Then I saw that Dovi was behind me so I had to keep pushing and pushing. I had a little warning on lap 10 because that is when I started to push more to try and open the gap. <strong>Delaying the race was the best decision that could have been made because the track was in a mixed condition<\/strong> and it could have been quite dangerous. <\/p>\n<p>A crazy weekend with the weather but <strong>the whole Repsol Honda Team were perfect and helped me a lot to achieve victory!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stefanbradl?lang=en\">@stefanbradl<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>I\u2019m not happy with the final result because I think we had a lot more potential.<\/strong> Since Friday we have been improving but the conditions of Saturday and lack of time hurt us in the race today and I struggled with rear grip and turning during the race.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nIt has been a very busy weekend and we were able to work a lot for Honda.<\/strong> To score was good but I am hoping for more in Austria.
