2007 - 2011
The RC212V was born of an adaptation to the new regulations established in 2007, which limited engine capacity to 800cc.
Furthermore, a V4 engine was created as regulations began to penalise the V5s. The engine became a “screamer” again to achieve greater power, which was controlled with sophisticated electronics. The bike underwent constant improvements until 2011, the year that the “seamless” gearbox was introduced. The RC212V was ridden by Hayden, Pedrosa, Dovizioso, and Stoner, who won the MotoGP World Championship in 2011.

Interview with Hiroshi Unuki
Manager of development of the RC212V
Between 2007 and 2011, there were some incredible moments. We found new places, we met authentic heroes, and we improved our health.
On 25th April 2007, the first extrasolar planet similar to Earth was discovered, Gliese 581 C, with a temperature, size, and composition similar to those in our home in the universe and “only” 20.5 light years away.
On 15th January 2009, in New York, another pilot achieved something historic. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, a US Airways pilot, made an emergency water landing on the Hudson River shortly after takeoff after losing both engines. He saved over 150 people.
In 2011, the anti-smoking law went into effect in Spain. Smoking was no longer allowed in enclosed public places or near children's parks or hospitals.
