Spanish GP 2019 – Moto3 Race – Alonso López and Sergio García statements

Alonso López

Pace of the leading group. I had expected a little more from this race, because the pace we had matched that of the leading group. Our grid position slowed me down a bit and reduced our chances, because the riders at the back come out very agitated. It is important to pass the less experienced ones, since there is a lot of overtaking and you can’t ride consistently, which makes you lose contact with the front group.

Pick points. It’s a shame, because I was riding comfortably and I did what I could. In the end we have picked up a couple of points.

Sergio García

Bad luck. I progressed little by little and I don’t know where I would have got to, but I thought I had the strength to fight until the end. I was going into the corner normally, but I was hit by another rider and fell. I didn’t see what happened to cause that. It’s a shame, but at the same time I’m very happy about the race I was having. I was in the lead group at all times and that is a very big step in a World Championship race in itself.

Focusing on improving. Now we are focusing on continuing to improve. Raúl Fernández apologised for the incident and it’s all ok; these things happen in racing.
