Fourth position for Bastianini and crash for Canet

I fought at the limit for the whole race

The race was interrupted when a red flag was shown after three laps, due to a crash. At that time, Arón Canet held a lead of almost 2 seconds over the pursuing group.

In the 12-lap restart, Canet again took the lead, until he crashed out on the fourth lap.

Enea Bastianini, starting from seventh position, was in the group of eight riders fighting for second and third position on the podium.

In the end I’m satisfied, because I managed to ride in the front group and I fought at the limit for the whole race. At one point I was a bit behind with some other riders, but when I was able to open a little gap, I managed to catch both Di Gianantonio and Jorge Martin. I tried to get into third under braking, but I went a little wide. I knew that in the last sector I wasn’t fast enough, and I had trouble overtaking at that point of the track, and it didn’t work out. But the important thing is that we had a good race and we managed to stay in the front group.

On the first start I managed to escape with Mir and open a gap, riding quite comfortably. But then the race was red flagged; when we took the restart I tried to use the same strategy. Fenati tried to stop me, but he couldn’t, since my pace was much better than his. I tried to force things a little more to get a few metres away from him, and I accelerated a little earlier on a corner. That was where I made a mistake and crashed. The positive from the weekend is that we were very strong and I think we could have won the race, but today we made a small mistake -from which we have to learn. In preseason in Jerez we did very well, so I’m sure that in two weeks’ time we will do just as well.
