Alonso López rose from 21st position of the grid to 15th at the chequered flag, riding in the second group for the entire race.

Teammate Sergio García started from tenth and dropped several positions on the opening laps, keeping in the second group and finishing just 0.891s outside the points, in 19th place.

The next round of the Moto3 World Championship, the San Marino Grand Prix, will take place in three weeks’ time, on September 13th-15th.

Great Britain GP 2019 - Moto3 race - Alonso López and Sergio García statements

Alonso López

It was a very tough race and not being in the front group annoyed me, because that is where we can and should be. Our bad qualifying position from yesterday hindered me on the opening laps and has prevented me from reaching the front when the frontrunners broke away. We had to ride with several very aggressive rivals and that didn’t allow us to set a good pace. I had to fight a lot and I was able to take a point in the end. We hope to be at the front in the coming races and continue the work like we have been doing, because even though it doesn’t seem like it from the final result, I’m happy with how the weekend went. We are on the right track and we want to continue like this.

Sergio García

I did my best in today’s race. After the start I was eleventh or twelfth, but as the laps went by it was very difficult for me to overtake. I felt comfortable riding in a group, but I had to take a lot of risks to overtake other riders, since on the straight I couldn’t get alongside them. The important thing is that we continue gaining kilometres and experience. In general, it has been a very good weekend -despite the final result.
